“Shadoobie, Splatter!”
This matching pair of Art Bikes builds layer upon layer to create the effect of stars shooting across a purple landscape. Every piece of this bike is used as a canvass. Chris enlisted the help of some of his art students to lend a hand, bringing friends into the Art Bikes family! “Towada Blue Oni Racer”
"I have two children that are half Barbadian and half Japanese being raised in Jacksonville FL. Each summer they are usually visiting family in one of those countries. My current work has been inspired by my observations of them, and their experiences of effortlessly traversing between these very disparate island cultures.
The 'Oni' is a popular mythological character in Japanese folklore, who often make frightening appearances in many children's stories. They usually appear in two's- one blue and one red.
The patterns on the bicycles reflect my personal artistic iconography combined with patterns from old Japanese woodblock motifs.” —@dustinharewood
