Frequently asked questions
What is Art Bikes?
Art Bikes is a fleet of electric bikes (yea, it does all the work for you )that you can rent for a unique lunch experience or to tour Jacksonville's exploding public art gallery.
How do I reserve a bike?
Choose an Art Bike from Open Roads Avondale. Bikes are available daily from 10 AM to 6 PM
The Art Bikes Jax App is free and available in the app stores. Download the app, choose your experience and the app will guide you with turn-by-turn directions and audio triggers when you reach a destination. Its a podcast on wheels!
Our custom electric bikes do all the work! There is a motor in the rear wheel that pedals for you. The bikes go up to 20 MPH and are super fun to ride!
We work with local artists to customize each bike and new custom Art Bikes will be coming out each month. Each artist we use lives in Jacksonville and has some sort of public art. We also give a portion of your booking to each of our participating Art Bikes artists!
A Great Art Bikes Experience
We have supplied really cool helmets, use them and obey the rules of the road.
Our historic district is filled with more architectural diversity than any other city in Florida. It is an incredible place to ride and explore.
Hidden Jacksonville, Art Republic, Arbus Magazine and The Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville all have awesome resources to learn more about our murals.
Very carefully! We have partnered with RAP (Riverside Avondale Preservation) Lift Jax and other organizations who have amazing stories to tell.
OTHER FAQs
We are excited too! Check the weather and dress appropriately, it will be a bit colder on cool days because you will be zipping around on an electric powered bike. Make sure you wear closed toe shoes (no heels!) Be sure to use sunscreen and a hat to protect yourself from the sun.
We get it! Art Bikes is better enjoyed at a slower pace, that's why 3 hours is ample time to enjoy any of the Art Bikes Adventures with time to spare. We will never charge a late fee (We hate it when this happens to us!) but we do ask that you are mindful of your time because someone else will be waiting on a bike behind you.
The routes we created have been carefully curated for a great, safe experience. That said, you may venture off the route for a bit and we understand this will happen. Please obey all rules of the road and visit our rules and regulations page.
If you are uneasy riding a regular bike than this experience may not be right for you. However, there are other art tours we would be happy to suggest, Go Tuk'n has lovely, guided art tours.
Great news! All Art Bike are equipped with puncture-proof tires so a flat tire is very unlikely. If there is a problem we are a phone call away, refer to your confirmation e mail for the phone number to call should you need assistance.
We want to make sure you have an extraordinary experience on Art Bikes! If the weather does not cooperate, you will be issued a rain check to enjoy your experience at a later date.
This is really the essence of Art Bikes, to get people to learn more and engage with the art community. Visit our sponsor links and click on the artist links, engage with them directly on social media
